車山とからくり
鍛治屋町の車山
◆壽老臺（じゅろうだい）
総白木造りで、漆・塗装・装飾金具をほとんど使用していない車山。屋根の唐
破風下の懸魚(けぎょ)として鳳凰、木鼻には獏と獅子があるが、柱間の彫り物などはないとてもシンプルな装いが特徴である。一九〇三年にそれまで使用していた車山 が老朽化したため、新たに新造・復元した車山で、町内在住の大工である市橋清次郎が棟梁となった。車山名は、もともと「石橋壽老臺」であったと伝えられて いる。
◆Jurodai Yama (Kajiyacho Precienct)
This yama is made entirely of plain non lacquered wood and has no metal ornaments. Its decoration is very simple. It has a carving of a phoenix on a board underneath the gable, and tapirs and lions at the heads of the horizontal timber of the roof. It was rebuilt by a Kajiya Precinct carpenter in 1903.
Originally this yama was called Shakkyo Jurodai.
鍛治屋町のからくり人形
◆石橋（しゃっきょう）
車山名「壽老臺」はからくり人形が寿老人であるところから、そう呼ばれるようになりました。もともとは「石橋壽老臺（しゃくきょうじゅろうだい）であったといわれています。練屋町と同じく源は「石橋」である。舞台では寿老人の前で、楽の音に合わせて、中央の文殊人形が四方の神々に一礼し、
舞台いっぱいに歩き回ります。そして文殊人形が大きな箱を、正面の台に移動して、次にその箱が割れると、中から唐子人形が出てはしゃぎます。同時に文殊人形は一瞬にして獅子の面をかぶり喜び脤やかに踊り狂います。その様子を見た寿老人はでかしたとばかりに喜んで、牡丹の花を咲かせるというものです。次々の変わっていく展開が見所です。
◆Shakyo (The Noh play Shakyo）
The name of this precincts float is Jurodai Yama and is taken from the karakuri doll. The karako’s name is Jurojin and he is one of the seven gods. The karako’s name used to be Shakyo Jurodai as the origin of the name is the same as the float in Neriyacho Precinct.
In this performance Jurojin watches as Monju the god of knowledge dances around the stage. As music plays he makes a bow in each direction to the gods. Monju then brings a box to center stage, which he splits open. A karako springs out and begins dancing around the stage. Monju quickly dons a lion mask and dances with the karako. As this greatly pleases Jurojin he makes peony flowers bloom.
